08/2007 to present -Retired and purchased 325 acres in the Greenhorn Mtns on Turkey Creek in Colorado for my wife (sister of Glady's Boyett) to have a cool place to live in the summer with her dog Kizzie, a Bernise Mountain Dog. Also built summer home about 30 feet from the creek, so Sheri could listen to the water when she went to bed. Property is located 34 miles west of Walsenburg, Co. Raise alfalfa & brome hay, cut approx 5,500 bales this last year. Shore is nice in the summer sitting on the deck overlooking the creek, drinking coffee and listening to the water rumble over the rocks. About 5 PM or so, you get a jacket and put it on to cut the crisp breeze and about 7PM you go in and build a fire in the fireplace. Last fall there were 74 elk in the alfalfa field beside the house.
Still running approximately 125 head cows in Texas. Was up to about 700 head in 2006, but cut back because my horse and dog were getting to old for all that work.
Ran for State Representative in Brazos County so the people would have someone other than Senator Ogden to properly represented them in Austin. Folks didn't want me because I fell about 2790 votes short of winning seat. Didn't spend enough and told it like I saw it. |
