When I saw that Jack had passed away this past weekend it made me sad.  I remmeber Jack so well during our time growing up in Bryan and through Texas A&M.  We were always good friends during those times.  Being that our last names both stared with "M" we would find ourselves in a class sitting near to each other often.  Jack was a very clever, smart, creative, and friendly person.  We always got along great and I considered us very good friends.  While looking through the photos on his Class of '59 website there was Jack in a photo where he had hit a golf ball in great form.  Well it reminded me about 10 t0 12 years ago when Jack and I met Bill Colson for a round of golf together.  Although I was aware of Jack's somewhat medical issues at the time I became aware that he was struggling with his health.  I was concerned for him.  Maybe then or a little later I realized he had changed in his thoughts and actions of the previous 40 plus years of friendship.  I was challenged as to what to do about my relationship with Jack.  I'm happy to report he was a friend first and I loved Jack for my memories of his friendship in all those wonderful years growing up in Bryan, Texas.  I hope he never knew of our differences.  I hope and pray that his two boys, their families, and Christina are comforted with God's love and their memories of Jack.
