I left Bryan in the summer of 1959, moved to So CA (my Air Force father was transferred there) and enrolled at UCLA. Immediately started playing bridge and drinking coffee. After graduating in 1963 with a degree in Psychology, I was invited to help teach bridge to a cousin of some neighbors. We married about 2 1/2 years later. I went to work for Aetna and stayed there 33 years till they moved to Minnesota. Went to work for another healthcare company and stayed there for 12 years until they moved to Wisconsin. Once you are used to the So CA weather, you do not move to colder climates. I decided enough was enough and retired in the summer of 2008.
Larry worked for 25 years for the Santa Fe Railroad and the Orange County Transit District and retired from both. We stay busy taking classes at Cal State Fullerton University and playing bridge. Someday we may actually get good at the game.
I do a lot of volunteer work for the Philharmonic Society of Orange County to help keep music in our local schools. School budget problems in this state have really hurt the arts programs.
My older daughter Deb lives in Skagway, AK - she runs her own cupcake shop called Sugar Mamas and bartends at the Red Onion Saloon. She is also a UCLA grad. Daughter Laura and husband of almost 13 years live in Tampa, FL - she's a physical therapist and works with several LPGA golfers to improve their game. No grandkids - just granddogs.
